Steak and Potatoes: The Ultimate Weekend Meal

(Sept. 2, 2008)—What's on the table?

  • Porterhouse steak, rubbed with garlic salt and barbecued over hot coals until medium rare
  • Baked russet potatoes
  • Clearman's cheese bread, so easy to make, all you need to do is pick up a tub of Clearman's Original Spread (born out of Clearman's Northwoods Inn restaurant in Southern California), spread an ample amount to individual slices of sourdough bread and broil for 2 minutes or less (but keep an eye on it, it's a fast cook). Psst: You can buy this at any major supermarket. I usually find it in the butter section.
  • Grilled asparagus, sliced zucchini, tomatoes and bell peppers, drizzled with olive oil, sprinkled with freshly crushed black pepper and garlic salt, then barbecued
  • Cheap wine and beer! Charles Shaw (2-buck Chuck with an upside-down cork), a Tisdale red and a can of Lite Beer
